Ingredients

For the turkey burger mixture
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
For serving
  • 4 pieces whole wheat hamburger buns
  • Your choice of toppings (e.g., lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese, ketchup) Customize to your liking!

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, onion powder, salt, black pepper, parsley (if using), and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until just combined—don’t overmix, as this can lead to a tough burger.
  2. Divide the mixture into equal portions, approximately 1/4 pound each, and form into burger patties. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
Cooking
  1. Heat a grill or stovetop pan over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or pan to prevent sticking.
  2. Cook the turkey burgers for about 5-7 minutes per side, flipping once, until they are fully cooked and reach an internal temperature of 165°F.
  3. While the turkey burgers are cooking, you can toast the whole wheat buns on the grill or in a toaster for a nice, crisp finish.
Assembly
  1. Place each turkey patty on the toasted bun and load it with your favorite toppings.

Notes

To prevent drying out the turkey burgers, avoid overcooking them. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days or freeze for 2-3 months.
