Ingredients

Cake Batter Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • a pinch salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour a round cake pan, about 9 inches in diameter.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the yogurt, sugar, melted butter, milk, and eggs. Add vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients. Stir gently until just combined.
Baking
  1. Pour a thin layer of the batter into the prepared pan, enough to cover the bottom.
  2. Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  3. Carefully remove the first layer from the oven and allow it to cool slightly before adding another thin layer of batter.
  4. Bake each subsequent layer for 10-12 minutes, repeating this process until all the batter is used.
  5. Once all the layers are baked, allow the cake to cool completely in the pan.
  6. Unmold and place it on a serving platter.
Decoration
  1. Add your favorite toppings, such as a dusting of powdered sugar, fresh berries, or whipped cream before slicing and serving.
