  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter Optional for added richness.

Preparation
  1. Rinse the fresh green beans under cold water, trim the ends, and set them aside.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Add the green beans, tossing to coat with the oil and seasonings. Sprinkle in salt and pepper, then sauté for about 5-7 minutes or until tender yet crisp.
  4. If using, stir in the unsalted butter until melted and evenly distributed.
Serving
  1. Transfer the sautéed green beans to a serving dish and enjoy warm.

Notes

For additional flavor, customize your seasoning with crushed red pepper flakes or a splash of lemon juice. Fresh green beans offer the best texture and flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
