  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Ensure it is melted but not hot.
  • 2 large eggs At room temperature.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Caramel Glaze
  • 1 cup brown sugar Packed.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • pinch salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Whisk these together until well-blended.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  5. Fold in the sliced apples gently, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  6. Transfer the batter into your prepared pan and spread it evenly.
Baking
  1. Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Making Caramel Glaze
  1. While the cake bakes, prepare your caramel glaze. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Stir until boiling and let it simmer for 4-5 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and add a pinch of salt.
Finishing Touch
  1. Once the cake is done, allow it to cool for about 10 minutes before removing it from the pan. Drizzle the warm caramel glaze over the cooled cake just before serving.

Notes

Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or freshly whipped cream. Pairs nicely with a warm chai latte or coffee. For storage, cover at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week. Can freeze individual slices for up to three months.
