Southern Banana Cobbler

A warm, comforting dessert featuring sweet bananas baked under a golden, buttery topping. Perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a classic Southern treat.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 –5 ripe bananas sliced
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: cinnamon or nutmeg for sprinkling

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Layer sliced bananas evenly in the bottom of the dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter over the bananas, spreading evenly.
  5. Sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg if desired.
  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until golden and set.
  7. Serve warm, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For extra richness, drizzle caramel sauce over the top before serving.
Can substitute part of the milk with cream for a creamier texture.
Best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored covered in the fridge for 2–3 days.
