Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- In a medium skillet over medium heat, add a splash of oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
Sauce Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, sautéed onion, shredded cheddar cheese, and Dijon mustard. Mix well until everything is nicely blended.
Baking
- Place the seasoned chicken in a baking dish. Pour the creamy onion sauce over the chicken, completely covering the pieces.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
- Remove the foil and allow the chicken to brown slightly for about 5 minutes.
Serving
- Garnish with fresh parsley, serve hot, and enjoy!
Notes
For added flavor, marinate chicken in lemon juice and herbs before cooking. You can substitute cheddar cheese with smoky gouda for a unique twist. Make sure not to overcook the chicken.
