  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 piece onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Seasonings and Extras
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional) Use for garnishing before serving

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, add a splash of oil and sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 5 minutes.
Sauce Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine sour cream, sautéed onion, shredded cheddar cheese, and Dijon mustard. Mix well until everything is nicely blended.
Baking
  1. Place the seasoned chicken in a baking dish. Pour the creamy onion sauce over the chicken, completely covering the pieces.
  2. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  3. Remove the foil and allow the chicken to brown slightly for about 5 minutes.
Serving
  1. Garnish with fresh parsley, serve hot, and enjoy!

Notes

For added flavor, marinate chicken in lemon juice and herbs before cooking. You can substitute cheddar cheese with smoky gouda for a unique twist. Make sure not to overcook the chicken.
