  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice about 1 lemon
  • 2 tsp lemon zest
  • 2 tbsp capers drained
  • 1 garlic clove minced (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley optional

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Wooden spoon or whisk
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add garlic (if using) and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in lemon juice, lemon zest, and capers.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Simmer gently for 1–2 minutes to blend flavors.
  6. Stir in parsley just before serving, if desired.

Notes

This sauce pairs beautifully with baked salmon, grilled chicken, or steamed asparagus.
For a creamier variation, whisk in 2 tbsp heavy cream after adding the lemon juice.
Best served fresh, but can be reheated gently over low heat.
