Ingredients

For the Hamburger Steaks
  • 1 pound Ground Beef, preferably 80/20 blend For juicy patties
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
For the Gravy
  • 1 medium Onion, sliced
  • 1 cup Beef Broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce, alcohol-free
  • 2 tablespoons Flour For thickening the gravy
  • to taste Olive Oil For frying

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into oval patties.
Cooking
  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions. Sauté until they are tender and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the onions and stir to combine. Gradually pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming. Let it cook until the gravy thickens, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Return the hamburger patties to the skillet and spoon the gravy over them. Let everything cook together for another 2-3 minutes, then serve warm.

Notes

Serve the hamburger steaks with buttery mashed potatoes or over fluffy rice. Add steamed green beans or glazed carrots for a colorful plate. Pair with sweet iced tea or lemonade.
