Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 pieces ripe bananas Use ripe, but not overripe bananas for best flavor.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup milk Can use non-dairy alternative.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying vegetable or canola oil For optimal frying.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by peeling your bananas and cutting them into slices about 1/2 inch thick.
Making the Batter
  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, and ground cinnamon.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually combine the wet ingredients with the dry ones until you have a smooth batter.
Heating the Oil
  1. In a large frying pan, heat about 1/4 inch of oil over medium heat. You can test if it's hot enough by dropping a small bit of batter in; it should sizzle upon contact.
Coating the Bananas
  1. Dip the banana slices into the batter, ensuring they are well-coated.
Frying
  1. Carefully place the battered banana slices into the hot oil, a few at a time.
  2. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they're golden brown.
Draining
  1. Once fried, remove the bananas from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
Serve and Enjoy
  1. Serve your Fried Cinnamon Bananas warm, optionally drizzled with caramel sauce or topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in a pan over low heat for best texture.
