Cookie Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is at room temperature.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare your baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each one is fully incorporated before adding the next.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter-sugar mixture, stirring until combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving adequate space between each cookie.
Baking
  1. Place your cookies in the preheated oven and bake for 9-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are just set.
  2. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking to improve cookie structure. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
