Homemade Cinnabon frosting on cinnamon rolls

Copycat Cinnabon Frosting

A rich, creamy frosting just like the one from Cinnabon—perfectly sweet, smooth, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Ideal for cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, or as a dip for fruit.

Ingredients

  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 –2 tbsp milk or heavy cream for desired consistency

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Electric mixer or hand whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Rubber spatula

Method

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing until fully incorporated.
  3. Mix in vanilla extract and salt.
  4. Add milk or cream, one tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.
  5. Spread generously over warm cinnamon rolls or your favorite baked goods.

Notes

For the best Cinnabon-style experience, frost cinnamon rolls while they’re still warm so the frosting melts slightly.
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days; bring to room temperature before using.
Can be whipped extra fluffy for a lighter texture.
