Ingredients

For the Cheese Puffs
  • 1 cup water For making the choux dough.
  • ½ cup unsalted butter To be melted with water.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour To create the dough.
  • 4 large eggs For binding the dough.
  • 1 cup grated cheese (cheddar, Gruyère, or your choice) Main ingredient for cheesy flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon salt To enhance flavor.
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper To add a touch of spice.
  • Optional: herbs for extra flavor (like chives or parsley) Can be added for enhanced taste.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine water and unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir until the butter melts completely.
  3. Add the all-purpose flour quickly and stir vigorously to create a thick dough. Cook for about 1-2 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the dough cool for about 5 minutes. Then, one by one, beat in the eggs until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
  5. Fold in your grated cheese, salt, and pepper into the dough. Optionally add herbs if desired.
  6. Using a piping bag or a spoon, place dollops of the dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until they puff up and are golden brown. Avoid opening the oven door during baking.
  2. Let them cool briefly and enjoy while warm!
