Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium head green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional) Cheddar or Monterey Jack

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the chopped cabbage, diced tomatoes (with juices), Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until the cabbage is tender, approximately 10 minutes.
  5. Transfer the beef and cabbage mixture to a greased baking dish. If using cheese, sprinkle it on top.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly, or until the dish is heated through.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For ingredient swaps, consider using turkey or chicken for a leaner version. Add spices or hot sauce for extra flavor. Ensure cabbage is evenly chopped for perfect cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days in the fridge or freeze for up to 3 months.
