For the Bars
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted Ensure it's completely melted
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar Use dark or light brown sugar, as preferred
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature eggs work best
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Pure vanilla extract is recommended
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips Optional for added flavor

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar. Stir until smooth and well-blended.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in butterscotch chips if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for approximately 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  2. Let the bars cool in the pan before slicing them into squares.
