Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease your donut pan.
- Boil the apple cider in a small saucepan over medium heat until it reduces to about ¼ cup, then set it aside to cool.
- In a large bowl, whisk together your flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the egg, melted butter, and reduced apple cider.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
- Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each mold approximately ¾ full.
Baking
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the donuts comes out clean.
- Allow the donuts to cool for a few minutes before removing them from the pan.
- Finally, coat each donut with the cinnamon-sugar mixture while they’re still warm.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days, or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in the microwave for a few seconds to enjoy the fresh-baked taste.
