Timid Stray Settles Into Forever Home, Becomes Sneaky Bread Thief

A few years ago, we adopted a shy black Labrador, around five or six years old, who had endured mistreatment from previous owners. He was nervous, missing most of his front teeth, and had a cauliflower ear. Despite being timid around men, he slowly became part of our family. After an incident where he ran away, we spent two weeks searching for him, eventually finding him by a busy road.

Over the years, his bond with my mom deepened. She became his closest companion, and he became her loyal shadow, always following her around. His cheeky habit of stealing bread earned him the nickname “Dodger.” Despite his past, he grew to trust people, especially my mom, and his devotion was unwavering.

Sadly, we recently had to say goodbye to him. He had fought bravely, and we held him close during his final moments. His loyalty and love were unmatched, and though we wish we had more time with him, we’re grateful for the years we shared. He was the most deserving dog of a forever home, and his absence leaves a deep sadness in our hearts.
